Character Background
Donatello, the Brains is a classic blue value engine disguised as a modest 2/4 body, and his real strength is turning every token-making spell into a snowball. In a control or midrange shell, he rewards you for playing efficient token producers, because each one comes with an extra Mutagen token to multiply board presence and fuel whatever that token represents in your deck. That makes him especially strong with cards that create multiple tokens at once, since every batch gets upgraded for free. Pair him with a partner commander that either benefits from tokens or helps protect your setup, then lean into tempo plays that keep you ahead while your board quietly widens. He fits best in value-driven builds, but can also support combo lines if Mutagen tokens have a sacrifice, mana, or ETB role. The lore flavor is perfect: Donatello is the Turtle who makes every plan smarter, bigger, and more efficient.
