Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Zur the Enchanter is a classic engine for a control or combo-value plan, turning every attack into a tutoring step that converts board presence into inevitable advantage. As a 1/4 flyer for four mana, Zur is more about surviving and snowballing than racing, and his ability rewards careful deck construction around cheap enchantments that immediately stabilize or lock in pressure. In practice, he shines in Dimir or Esper shells that can protect him with counters and removal, then chain silver-bullet enchantments like card draw, tax effects, or recursion pieces directly onto the battlefield. A strong deckbuilding tip is to keep the enchantment curve tightly packed at three mana or less so Zur never whiffs, and to include protection auras or stax pieces that make attacking safer while hindering opponents. Lore-wise, he reads as a calculating arcane broker, the kind of wizard who weaponizes knowledge and ritual rather than brute force.
