Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Brass Man is a quintessential old-school mana sink, best suited to control or midrange decks that want a cheap early blocker with repeatable activation value. For just one mana, a 1/3 artifact creature is excellent at stonewalling small attackers, and its upkeep ability lets you choose when to keep it online instead of paying every turn automatically. That makes it especially attractive in decks with spare mana each turn, artifact synergies, or untap shenanigans; pairing it with effects that reduce artifact costs, boost untaps, or generate extra mana can keep it relevant far longer than its size suggests. In gameplay terms, it rewards disciplined resource management: deploy it early, hold the ground, and convert excess mana into a steady defensive presence. Thematically, Brass Man feels like a clockwork sentinel—reliable, methodical, and slightly inefficient, but difficult to ignore once it’s standing in the way.
