Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Forbidden Alchemy is a quietly powerful blue instant that rewards patient, resource-oriented decks, especially control and graveyard-centric value shells. At three mana, it smooths draws by digging four cards deep for the best option, while the other three cards being milled is not a drawback so much as a feature: it fuels delve, flashback, reanimation, and recursion strategies. In play, it often behaves like a flexible “find the missing piece” spell, whether you need a land drop, interaction, or a specific combo component. The flashback cost of {6}{B} turns late-game graveyards into a second hand, giving inevitability in grindy matches. Deckbuilding-wise, pair it with cards that care about cards in the graveyard such as snapcaster-style effects, reanimation targets, or cards with flashback and dredge-like synergy; just be sure your mana base can support black if you want the full value.
