Oracle Text
Look at the top three cards of your library. Put one of those cards into your hand, one on top of your library, and one on the bottom of your library.
Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Telling Time is a small but elegant piece of blue card selection that fits best in tempo, control, and combo decks, where smoothing draws is often worth more than raw card quantity. For {1}{U}, it lets you see three cards deep, keep the best one now, set up the next draw, and tuck away the least useful card, which makes it excellent for sculpting turns and fixing awkward hands. In gameplay terms, it rewards careful sequencing: cast it after shuffling effects, fetchlands, or other library manipulation to maximize the quality of the top three. It also pairs nicely with cards that care about the top of your library, since you can choose whether to preserve a key spell on top or hide it below. The name and effect evoke a mage literally “reading ahead” through the flow of events, a fitting bit of secretive foresight for a Secret Lair treatment.
