Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Wall of Spears is a very straightforward Fourth Edition defensive piece: a 3-mana artifact Wall with defender, first strike, and a sturdy 2/3 body that can blunt early assaults while still trading up in combat. Its best home is control, especially slower white or artifact-centric decks that want to buy time, stabilize the board, and protect life total until bigger threats or card advantage take over. First strike makes it excellent against common attackers with equal or lower toughness, since it can survive fights that would normally break through a wall. Because it is an artifact creature, it also naturally benefits from artifact synergies like Glorious Anthem-style buffs, Lord effects, or cards that care about artifacts entering or staying on the battlefield. In deckbuilding, pair it with removal and sweepers so it functions as a durable early speed bump rather than a late-game liability. Its flavor is exactly what the name suggests: a disciplined barrier of spears holding the line.
